When Routine Food Safety Tests Do Not Answer the Threat
Food-safety programs are designed primarily around pathogens, allergens, spoilage and known process hazards. An intentional chemical poisoning concern creates a different operational problem: teams may need to secure the food, identify a defensible screening scope, obtain rapid presumptive information and escalate consequential samples without mistaking a field result for laboratory confirmation.

The Operational Problem
A credible threat may arrive with incomplete information. Sampling must avoid spreading contamination, the food or beverage must remain controlled, and field results must be documented in context. A product-selection discussion should therefore address the suspected targets, exact matrix, sample quantity, operational time, personnel, training and the action planned for positive, uncertain and negative results.

Prepare, Screen, Interpret and Escalate
- Assess and control. Apply the organization’s food-defense, emergency and chain-of-custody procedures. Isolate the affected material and define who is authorized to sample.
- Prepare a representative sample. Confirm that the matrix and preparation follow the current product instructions.
- Run the applicable detector groups. Use KT-06 for broad nine-category screening or the selected targeted format for a defined group.
- Interpret and document. Record the prescribed visible response, sample, preparation, product lot, operator and conditions.
- Escalate consequential findings. Route positive, uncertain, inconsistent or threat-supported results to the applicable emergency, medical, law-enforcement and confirmatory-testing process.
Documented Development and Testing
ChemSee’s food-poison detection technology was developed with support connected to the U.S. Department of Defense Technical Support Working Group. The food-matrix evaluation performed through North Carolina State University provides important evidence and documented limitations for the applicable detector technology. This history should be read in the scope of the tested products, matrices and conditions—not as a universal certification of every ChemSee product or application.

Understanding a Negative Screen
A negative screen means that no applicable response was observed under the conditions of the test. It does not rule out chemicals outside the selected product’s coverage, amounts that do not produce the prescribed response, matrix interference or sampling error. KT-06 does not quantify concentration, identify an exact chemical species or establish that a sample is safe.
